Each category has its own rubric: a set of variables (e.g. storage type, DDoS protection, starting price), each assigned to a pillar (Performance, Pricing & Value, Security, and so on) with its own weight. A provider's raw value for a variable is normalized to a 0–10 score, then combined into a pillar score, then into a single 0–10 total using each pillar's weight — nothing here is a 100-point scale or a fixed set of 10 categories; the pillars and weights below are exactly what the engine used for the score you see on each category page.
A provider missing a measurement for some variable is handled by that rubric's missing-data policy — scored as zero, substituted with the category median, excluded from that one variable, or excluded from the ranking entirely once too much is missing (shown per category below).
Every measurement behind these scores is tagged with a confidence level — high, medium, low, or estimated — and whether it's been independently verified. A provider page goes noindex when most of its data is still estimated rather than verified, instead of presenting an unverified number as fact. We track and work down this estimated-vs-verified gap weekly rather than pretending it doesn't exist.

Every category's rankings are recomputed nightly against the latest measurements, with a snapshot kept for history.
Stale measurements and the estimated-vs-verified split are reported weekly so gaps get worked down, not ignored.
A daily digest flags any category where a provider's rank swung sharply — usually the sign of a data bug worth checking.
